Life has been a little crazy here lately. We’ve had family in town, 4 birthdays to celebrate in March, LOTS of sickness and transitions with the hubs work life. We are on our second round of the flu here and I can’t wait until it is fully gone. I started feeling sick on Saturday evening and was up most of the night sick. I tried to stay locked away in my room most of Sunday while Dustin tended to Jude’s needs. By Monday morning, I was starting to feel better but Jude started to get sick. He has been whiney and very cuddly most of the day but seems to have gotten a small burst of energy this afternoon. I am hoping it all passes and that we can get everything sanitized/washed in the next day or two.
Dustin finally found a good candidate for his Assistant Manager opening at the store. This one has been a LONG time coming! He has been working 60+ hours a week plus 45 minute commutes each way since the end of October. This has been an exhausting time for him trying to fill the position and run the store with just two managers. I am excited to say that in a couple of weeks he will have his first full weekend off since the end of October! I am so thankful he works so hard for our family and am glad we will get to have him around a little more often!
In March we celebrated Taylor, Melissa, Mine and my mom’s birthdays! March is always busy for birthdays but since 3 of them fall on the 5th (Taylor, Melissa and I) we usually get most of them done in one big party. This year we had to wait a week to celebrate so that Melissa, Tyler and Adley could come into town. We had a wonderful weekend full of pedicures with all the girls, feeding the Elk and Bison, the park, and a nice dinner at Cinzetti’s Italian restaurant. It was a wonderfully exhausting weekend but I loved every minute of it!
I am hoping as the weather starts to change into Spring that it will actually warm up around here. Jude loves to be outside and I hope we can start going on evening walks and get into a routine of being outdoors more. We have some fun things planned in April so I am excited for the weeks ahead! (One of these things may be opening day at the K for the start of the Royal’s Baseball season!!!)
I thought I would do a post of current favorites or things I am currently liking/doing or things I am currently over.
Reading: “gods at war” by Kyle Idleman. We are currently doing this for a small group study with church. I really love the video and discussion we do with the book. I also plan to start a James Patterson book I’ve had laying around for awhile and just haven’t started (which is RARE).
Listening to: I’m obsessed with the song “Say Something” by Great Big World. I love the version with Christina Aguilera singing with them. I swear I could listen to it on repeat all day.
Eating: I wish it was something healthy… I feel like I am in a junk food rut these days, I blame it on nature. I am really enjoying spring time Oreos right now.
On the menu: Taco Salad with black beans and fruit are on the menu for dinner. I am hoping we can grill out one night this week!
Dreaming About: Owning a home and expanding our family. We have some time before either of these happen but I can’t say the possibility of both isn’t super exciting!
Scared of: Owning a home and expanding our family. Not to sound redundant but both of our dreams require a certain amount of financial planning to happen and that is scary.
Digging: Navy Blue. I would like to add this color into our house with accents. I feel my design tastes are changing and I am really loving blues right now. I think navy is such a classy and moody color. I would love to throw in some pillows in our living room with navy.
Loving: The nicer weather that we’ve been teased with has been awesome. Saturday we were able to spend a good amount of time outdoors enjoying the 70 degree weather we were blessed with. We took Jude to feed the Buffalo and Elk at Lake Jacomo and played at the park. I can’t wait until it is nice enough to do something outdoors daily and for summer when we can go swimming!
Over: Winter. Winter brings wonderful things like Christmas, hot cocoa, first snow, and lots of family time which I love. Winter also brings freezing temperatures, higher gas bills, lots of sickness and days of not venturing outdoors. Jude has had a tough time staying well this winter. I feel like every time we get over one sickness there is a snotty nose or cough lurking around the corner. He is also at the prime age for lots of teething so that plays a part too!
Welcome to my little corner of the world. I aim to express myself, share inspirations, open up about life and the daily grind. This blog is named flip flops & yoga pants because 9 times out of 10 that is my daily uniform. I will try and post things a couple of times a week and you can expect to see these kinds of things on my blog…
- A glimpse into our daily life- I would like this to be a place that I can keep track of the little and big things so I can look back on them later.
- Recipes- I love to cook and simple or semi-homemade is my kind of jam. If I find something good I will try and share it.
- Occasional Crafts/Thrifty updates- I don’t find myself doing these a ton (although I’d like to be doing it more) but when I do I hope to share.
- Things I deem important- whether it be political, religious, or something we’ve been through, if I think it will benefit others and I think it is important I will probably write about it here.
Thanks for stopping by and entering into this journey with us!
